The meeting of NATO Sub-Group 1 on Ship Motion and Vibration was attended by 25 persons from nine NATO countries. Preliminary reports of each nation's accepted (or preliminarily accepted) specifications concerning ship motions, vibrational shock were presented. The distinction between functional and operational requirements was emphasized. A suggestion by France, that the terms of reference of the Sub-group be enlarged to include research and operational as well as design considerations was not agreed to by the Sub-group pending completion of a report under its current, limited terma of reference.
