A survey is given over the efforts to re-establish capable wind-tunnel facilities in Germany after World War 2. Some of the transonic and hypersonic tunnels founded by the wind-tunnel program of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany are described in more detail. The main activities in these tunnels like reentry vehicles, slender bodies and free-flight testing are presented. (Author)
