The first CXFR unit received at this Laboratory was operationally tested on 11 February 1944 aboard the U.S.S. Quincy (CA), using radar equipment at the Naval Research Laboratory Chesapeake Bay Annex. Poor performance on these tests resulted in the further tests requested by the latter of reference (a), and this CXFR unit was set up for these tests in the Laboratory. Subsequently, three more CXFR equipment were received at the laboratory, the last two containing modifications which had been incorporated as a result of the tests at this laboratory.
