The anxiety of 59 flight students is described. The students are divided into two groups; one group of 19 men demonstrated above average anxiety in flight training; the other group of 40 men were not overly anxious. Tests given before the men flew, which distinguish between these two groups, are described. A multiple correlation predicting anxiety id derived. The effect of anxiety on learning to fly is discussed, and a way of reducing anxiety is suggested. (Author)
