Multi-vehicles rear-end crashes constitute a significant portion of the total crashes in the Unted States. Information and early warning about the vehicle stream ahead can reduce the possibility of such crashes and given a crash the injury severity of occupants. The objective of this study is to examine the effect of information and other factors on rear-end crash propagation and the propensity of driver injury in such crashes. The authors also explore the implication of the authors' findings for developing early warning systems.
