Data from approximately four hundred plant mix asphalt pavement projects were analyzed. Data obtained included age, most recent traffic count, pavement thickness, asphalt type and supplier, gradation and dust ratio and Marshall mix design data. Each project was field rated as to appearance, ride, settlement, raveling and rutting. Longitudinal and transverse cracking was rated by frequency and severity in each quarter mile segment. Projects studied were on the Interstate, primary or secondary systems. The study failed to produce any correlations, which could be used by design, materials or construction personnel. (Author)
