Procedures are given that must be observed when limited life materials are employed in the construction of ESA spacecraft. Limited life materials currently used in spacecraft hardware are paints, coatings, adhesives, potting compounds, prepegs, etc. Their useful life is given in manufacturers' data sheets under the heading shelf life, where constraints on storage conditions are likewise often stated.
