The housekeeping volume was developed to provide handbook data for use by space system planners, designers, and system engineers. The data provided herein is a representation of requirements and concepts for housekeeping systems for both present and future manned space vehicles. The handbook also establishes various areas where future technological development will be needed. The document integrates habitability technology in handbook format for the following housekeeping functions: Waste definition, waste collection, waste transportation, waste sorting, waste processing, and waste utilization and disposal.
