The National Personal Transportation (NPTS) obtained data on all trips and travel in the U.S. over a specified period, and on the social and economic characteristics of the person making the trip. The objectives of this report are to convey a methodology for using the NPTS data tapes to accident researchers; to provide a qualitative description of the travel characteristics measured; and to display a descriptive summary of several exposure measures and their relation to households, vehicles and drivers. Volume II contains bivariate tables of counts of persons, counts of trips or counts of vehicles.
