This paper briefly summarizes techniques which have been developed for use in creating helicopter air-to-ground, noise-distance relationships. Discussion is provided concerning FAA efforts to establish an accurate and practical method (which considers source directivity) for modeling the noise impact associated with helicopter operations. Plots of normalized directivity vectors are provided for eight helicopters in various modes of flight. (Author)
