The performance of different IIR adaptive algorithms are compared. Due to the non-quadratic nature of the performance surface and to potential instability, the IIR algorithms have design problems not encountered with FIR adaptive algorithms. We present simple two-pole adaptive algorithms whose performance, based on experimental results, appears to represent an improvement over the existing RLMS (Recursive Least Mean Squares) algorithm.
