Generalized noise contours, in terms of the perceived noise level, are presented for takeoff and landing operations of: a) two and three engine, short and medium range turbojet and turbofan transport aircraft, (Boeing 727, BAC 1-11, Douglas DC-9 and Sud Aviation Caravelle 3 and 6); b) multi-engine turbojet and turbofan business aircraft (Jet Commander 1121, Dassault Falcon, Hawker Siddeley D. H. 125, Lear Jet 23, Lockheed JetStar and North American Sabreliner); and c) two-engine propeller transport and business aircraft. Estimates of ground runup noise for aircraft in groups a) and b) above are also presented. The noise contours are based on noise measurements and estimates. The noise contours extend the scope of aircraft noise information for land use planning in the vicinity of airports. The noise information should be particularly helpful in describing the noise environment in and about smaller airports not regularly handling military or large civil jet transport aircraft.
