Volume and structure of present passenger travel and aircraft movements for German airports are analyzed and their future evolution is forecast. Region and travel purpose specific demand segments serve as a basis for estimating passenger flow on scheduled and charter air services for the year 1990 and beyond. Traffic flows are assigned to routes and converted into aircraft movements for several supply variants. Air transport through German airports is expected to grow from 35.7 million passengers in 1975 to about 75 million in 1990. This growth can partly be met by raising capacities and load factors of aircraft such that aircraft mileage increases only 30%
