Progress is reported in the following areas: aeronautics; aeroacoustics; air cushion technology; flight and ground transportation; fusion energy; industrial and architectural aerodynamics; laser resonance interactions and applications; mass spectroscopy and trace gas analysis; shock wave phenomena and turbulent combustion; sonic booms; space dynamics and control; structural mechanics and materials science; upper atmosphere; and flight research. The construction of a research vehicle simulator, a facility for studying two phase dusty gas flows, and a laboratory space simulator to determine the effect in time of thermal cycling, UV radiation, and electron bombardment of composite materials are milestones accomplished during the year's activities.
