The modern materials (plastics, composite materials, etc.) currently used in the construction of helicopters are presented. A review is given of the main objectives sought by the contractor: reduction of mass and costs, and improving performance and operational characteristics. Emphasis is given to the special techniques and procedures (both design and industrial manufacturing phases) employed together with the quality control and operational behavior studies performed.
