The Littlefield Traffic Interchange will provide a safe entrance and exit to the community of Littlefield and to Beaver Dam and U. S. Highway 91. The Cedar Pocket Safety Rest Area will provide an opportunity for travelers to view the scenic splendor of this route. The two surfacing projects will pave all of the I-15 route from Littlefield to the Utah State Line which has been constructed or is now being constructed through the grade and drain phase. Construction of the Littlefield Traffic Interchange will be within the existing rights of way for I-15 and U.S. 91 and will not therefore, require additional land. Its effect on the environment will be minimal. Construction of the Cedar Pocket Rest Area and Traffic Interchange will require almost all of the near level land in the Middle Gorge area. This area is now used for grazing cattle but is considered marginal for this purpose.
