The AEGIS combat consists of two parts; the CG-47 Ticonderoga class cruiser, (a ship) and the guided missile system carried by that cruiser. The guide is intended to explain the missile/cruiser system for the benefit of potential minority enterprise subcontractors. Part one contains an overview of the CG-47 guided missile cruise and the AEGIS weapons system. Part two considers the funding structure of the US Navy, while part three describes the funding status of the AEGIS program. Part four contains a description of the two prime contractors; Litton Industries and Bath Iron Works, which is a division of the Congoleum Corporation. Illustrations, specifications, charts, and a directory of procurement contacts are included.
