The report covers a joint IMCO/UNEP study of 73 ports in the Mediterranean Sea to determine the need for reception facilities in these ports for handling oily wastes from ships. The objective of the study was to provide assistance to countries in the Mediterranean Sea to meet the requirements for reception facilities in special areas as prescribed under Regulation 12 of Annex I of the 1973 International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from ships. This report presents detailed information on ports in Libya, Malta, Morocco, Spain, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and Yugoslavia.
