This study, conducted by Don Breazeale and Associates (DBA) in 2002, analyzes the feasibility of constructing a new seaport in Bizerte. The study aims to: conduct thorough reviews and evaluations of (1) current studies; (2) actual freight traffic and origin/destination data that might impact Bizerte; (3) Actual transshipment cargo potential in the region and determine whether Bizerte is a likely transshipment point for the region; (4) preliminary analysis of industrial growth that might impact Bizerte or any port development; (5) impact on US exports and labor; (6) economic and financial analysis for the port with financing options based on contractors information; (7) development preliminary marketing and investment plan with recommendations concerning development of the added port facilities. A port in Bizerte could potentially grow to 3.18 million TEU annually.
