The ALERTS (Airborne Laser Equipment Real Time Surveillance) System is intended to survey the area ahead of a UH-1D Helicopter. An image of this area will be displayed on cathode ray tubes, on a real time basis, in sufficient detail for acquisition and recognition of targets, including a man -- one of the most difficult targets of interest to identify. Topics covered include: System weight budget, power consumption and auxiliary power unit; Signal-to-noise calculation; ALERTS fire control; and, Management control tool (MOST).
