The report is based on a survey done by the Research and Development Division of the International Association of Chiefs of Police during which a 32-page questionnaire was executed by the police agency responsible for the controlled access highways in each State. An in-depth study was done in six States by the IACP staff. These guidelines cover police budgeting and administrative decision making; manpower considerations, police records and information, administration, patrol activities, collision investigation, police equipment for vehicles, communication equipment and systems, and facilities. Several tables cover cost benefit versus procedure, comparison of budgeting systems, a typical object budget and a bibliography. (BPR Abstract)
