The packaging of avionics and mechanisms in containers, called orbital replacement units, which permits in-orbit repair and replacement is the key to man's expanded ventures into space with increasingly costly assets. In designing ORUs, the designer must accomodate the environments of launch and space. The subjects of ORU attachment, thermal, electrical connectors, and size and configuration, are addressed.
