Time of useful consciousness and total rescue time after decompression of human and animal subjects as they have been reported by several authors, are presented in up-to-date tables. In order to achieve on-board rescue of decompressed crewmembers compartmentalization combined with adequate air lock design is suggested and its operation in said emergencies described. The same principle can be applied to decompression events of High Altitude/Multi Mach Transport Aircraft. (Author)
