U.S. unmanufactured tobacco exports during March 1985 were up 10% in volume to 21,877 tons valued at $146 million. Burley exports accounted for most of the gain, increasing 65% from March 1984. Flue-cured tobacco exports declined 22% from a year ago. Cumulative unmanufactured tobacco exports for January-March 1985 were 59,999 tons valued at $385 million, an increase of 2%. Burley exports were up 15% for the first 3 months of 1985, while flue-cured exports were up 5%. Cigarette exports remain strong, increasing 26% from a year ago. Unmanufactured tobacco imports for consumption during March 1985 declined 32% from March 1984. During January-March, imports were off 12% from a year ago.
