The report presents a torsional vibration analysis of a ship's propeller shaft system driven by two diesel engines. The propeller shaft is unusually long at 74 meters. The results of the analysis are evaluated on basis of the specifications of Lloyd's Register of Shipping. A comparison has been made with similar results using an electric propulsion system.
