This report documents the transportation fuel and energy use estimates developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) for the End Use Energy Consumption Data Base. The Transportation data generally cover each of the ten years 1967-76 (ocassionally 1977 & 78), with omissions in some modes. The estimates are broken down by mode of transport, by fuel, by region and state, by the sector of the economy providing the transportation and by the use to which it is put, and in the case of automobile and bus travel by the income of the traveler. The mode, fuel, sector and use categories themselves subname one, two, or three levels of subcategories, resulting in a very detailed categorization of energy use.
