An evaluation of an H-23D-1 and an H23D-2 helicopter was conducted to determine: the suitability of the helicopters for use as Army observation helicopters; the desirability of remanufacturing current inventories of H-23's to accommodate the TVO-435 (supercharged) engine or a VO-540 engine with dual carburetion and highdomed pistons; and the capability of each helicopter to perform as an improved Army observation helicopter when compared to similar Bell H-13 helicopters.
