The design of efficient attitude control systems for extra-atmospheric vehicles is of considerable importance. The research discussed in this paper is directed to the problem of re-orienting a spinning vehicle in minimum time. The controllers are assumed to be thrust limited reaction jets (or small rockets). The primary objectives of this research can be summarized as follows: (1) To obtain efficient mathematical techniques for computing the time optimal control law for a wide class of vehicles in which small changes in attitude are required, and (2) to demonstrate the influence of spin rate, vehicle geometry, control magnitude and thruster configuration on the time required to optimally re-orient a spinning vehicle.
