Transportation currently is almost completely dependent upon liquid petroleum derived fuels. Hydrogen is a clean, attractive alternative fuel for aircraft propulsion. Large, new sources of economical hydrogen are required before hydrogen can play an important role as an aircraft fuel. Hydrogen cannot produce a significant impact on fuel availability for aircraft until well after 1990. (Author)
