The guide rails for the landing flap support of the Airbus A-300 B aircraft were tested for replacement of material (steel) by carbon fiber reinforced titanium alloy with a view to an overall parts weight reduction of 16 %. Fatigue tests are described for the upper guide rail. Results show an increase in fatigue life over steel rails.
