To facilitate compliance with Florida's Yield-to-Bus (YTB) law, this project focuses on the following objectives: (1) Identify the critical design features and prevailing conditions affecting the safety of the merging maneuvers of buses entering traffic from bus pullout bays; (2) Quantify the potential safety and operational effects of implementing traffic control devices, which can include, but are not limited to, signs (both static and dynamic messages), beacons, and pavement markings that consider geometric characteristics of bus bays; (3) Provide recommendations on the type(s) of YTB traffic control devices to be installed on Floridas state highway system (SHS).
