Tests were conducted on five types of low mounted railing type lighting fixtures to determine whether it was feasible to use this method of lighting for a particular interchange in the Albany area. Factors investigated included: spacing and mounting height of the fixtures, illumination, roadway brightness, glare, visibility, effects of snow on operation, and costs of installation and operation. It was concluded that installation was feasible and a number of specific recommendations were made. (Author)
