The purpose of the study is to present in some detail the initial results of an approach to a time-cost convenience model for the Northeast Corridor transportation project. A configuration of travel for the Corridor is given consisting of a mix of modes (air, rail, highway, etc.) and paths (e.g., Washington to Boston non-stop, or with a stop at Philadelphia). A mode and a path together form a route. The inputs to the configuration are the demand characteristics of an individual in terms of his requirements for time-cost-convenience, his origin-destination pair, and the time of day of his request for transportation. The output is a specific route to satisfy his requirements. The route will consist of a mode and path. (Author)
