The freeway is needed to satisfy the demands of one of the most rapidly growing urban areas in the United States. Some adverse effects upon the environment can be expected to accrue from a project to be constructed through a densely populated urban area, namely noise and air pollution, displacement of residences and businesses, and change in land use. However, these effects can be minimized.
