As it is impossible to prevent all traffic accidents, attention must be paid to the control of the accident process in traffic control: injury prevention. In the report an overview is given of accident research as found in the literature on cyclists and on moped riders. The small number of studies shows that this is a new field. This is remarkable, especially in the Netherlands, as the number of riders of mopeds and bicycles is high and much higher than in other countries. Whether more research has to be executed in the Netherlands or internationally coordinated is under discussion. The report is the first step in this discussion. The report starts with a theoretical overview of the processes important to injury prevention. Three processes are described: collision, injury and healing. In the second part of the report injury prevention research is discussed.
