The current measurements made by cylindrical Langmuir probe systems flown on NIRO vehicles are described. Particular emphasis is placed on the electron current and the positive ion current. Measurements were made over an altitude range extending from 60 kilometers to 145 kilometers, thus encompassing the D- and E- regions. The development of the electronic instrumentation is presented.
