Two studies on tethered balloons at high altitude are described. The static equilibrium of tethered balloons as a function of the wind is dealt with: equilibrium altitude, length and shape of the cable. An extension is made to tethered balloons with auxiliary payloads and balloons distributed along the cable. Dynamics of tethered balloons are treated: ascension of the balloon with the cable either unwinding from a fixed landwinch or from a winch launched by the balloon itself. No numeric data are presented.
