It is proposed to acquire 181 acres of land for Runway 35L extension; clear zone for Runway 17R; construct, mark, and light a 150 ft. x 3000 ft. extension of Runway 35L; relocate existing approach lighting system, glide slope facility, runway visual range and rotating beam ceilometer; construct, mark, and light extension to a parallel taxiway; clear and grade extended runway safety area; acquire 160 acres of land for Runway 35L clear zone; revise marking and lighting for relocated threshold; and clear and grade the extended runway safety area. No significant impact is anticipated as a result of this project other than the conversion of approximately 181 acres of agricultural land to airport uses. Increases in aircraft operations will be the result of normal growth. The runway extension will allow flights with longer stage lengths. The north approach is over agricultural land and the effect of noise change upon human and natural environment will be negligible. The relocation of the south threshold 900 feet will increase noise levels as insignificant amount in the south approach and departure zone. There are no schools or hospitals within two miles of either threshold.
