On 27 June 1996, the 'Information Umwelt' organization held a seminar for journalists in Munich under the title 'Mobility at any cost. Necessity and limits'. In industrial societies, mobility is defined as a basic need. The contributions compiled in the present volume are basically transcripts of the lectures held at the meeting.
