This study attempts to provide quantitative insight into future Texas requirements for gasoline and light vehicle (less than 10,000 pounds) diesel fuel. A base case 1985 to 2000 forecast is developed employing a gasoline price forecast from Data Resources, Inc., economic-demographic forecasts from the Texas Economic-Demographic Forecasting Model housed at the University of Texas at Austin Bureau of Business Research, and new car fuel efficiency forecasts from the Chase Econometrics Automotive Service. The forecasting tool is a Texas version of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Highway Gasoline Demand Model. (ERA citation 08:036188)
