The review of potential European mission trends through the next two decades shows an evolution of the relevant two space segment towards heavier and larger spacecraft. The analysis of the future commercial missions, indicates that their implementation in space, their operational utilization and possibly their maintenance in orbit will require a common in orbit infrastructure. A system of transportation and accomodation to, in and from orbit, called In-Orbit Infrastructure (IOI) is discussed. The IOI needs of commercial space platforms for Earth observations, telecommunication and space processing are examined.
