This study showed the feasibility of estimating traffic counts by using the counts of a few stations in the same localized area. The hypothesis that traffic follows daily and hourly patterns which can be predicted has been substantiated by this study. This method of estimation can be used with aerial counting of traffic to provide estimates of traffic for all roads in an area. This would be of great importance in obtaining yearly counts of the roadways in a large area.
