Significant effort has been made to predict structural damage as an intermediate result of ship grounding, but little has been done to predict ship motion, structural loads, and continued damage after grounding in waves. This report describes Phase 1 in a three-phase project to develop, validate, and apply a model to predict motions, loads, and ultimate structural failure in a stranded ship.
