Fiber optic guided missiles offers a weapon system with new and unique capabilities. A system with many missiles, guided by a common computer at the launch site, can utilize the sensor data from all missiles to optimize the overall system performance of the missiles. This report summarizes the precious work on fiber optic guided missiles and the relevant AI technology needed to develop a partly automous missile system. The continued work in this field should be focused on a system study assessing the capabilities and limitations of fiber optic guided missiles and on further research on optimal guidance of one, or many cooperating, missiles.
