This report documents results of the effects of forward instantaneous centers of rotation on up and away tasks such as simulated aerial refueling. Testing was requested by the 773TS, Edwards AFB, CA. The lead developmental test organization was the Air Force Test Center, Edwards AFB, California. The executing test organization was Class 19A of the USAF Test Pilot School, Edwards AFB. Testing was conducted from 06 September 2019 to 20 September 2019 and comprised of 16 sorties totaling 23.1 flight test hours and 31.6 hours in the NASA Vertical Motion Simulator(VMS) at Moffett Field, CA. The overall test objective was to investigate the effects of forward ICRs on aircraft handling qualities during tasks that included simulated aerial refueling, using in-flight, full-motion, and fixed-base simulators. All test objectives were met.
