Eight segments of the aluminum alloy forging SP 695589 used in making the Navol tank liner SP 695581 were investigated to determine if the temperatures as high as 400F to which some of the assemblies had accidentally been subjected would detrimentally affect the material; but higher temperatures were also used to determine what might be considered a safe maximum temperature.
