The FY 2010 budget for the Department of Transportation (DOT) includes $73.2 billion in appropriations, obligation limitation, user fees, and exempt obligations. Please note that the President's Budget contains no policy recommendations for surface transportation programs subject to reauthorization, including highway, transit, and highway safety programs. Instead, it includes baseline placeholder amounts for these programs, which account for the majority of departmental funding in 2010. The Department's five key strategic goals are to: (1) improve safety; (2) protect the environment; (3) support national security, preparedness and response (4) reduce congestion for all Americans; and (5) increase global transportation connectivity in support of the Nation's economy.
