The Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) have developed the eighth edition of the Federal Radionavigation Plan (FRP) to ensure full protection of national interests and efficient use of resources. The plan sets forth the Federal interagency approach to the implementation and operation of Federally provided, common-use (civil and military) radionavigation systems. The FRP is a review of existing and planned radionavigation systems used in air, space, land, and marine navigation and for purposes other than navigation in terms of user requirements and current status. The FRP contents reflect DOD responsibility for national security, as well as DOT responsibilities for public safety and transportation economy.
