In combat situations it is often desirable to determine the best combination of aircraft takeoff angle and related acceleration rate for maximum protection against enemy ground fire. This paper presents a method of comparison of different ways of takeoff under certain given conditions. Three different combinations of takeoff angle and acceleration rates are discussed: Steepest takeoff possible; Takeoff at a small angle; and Aircraft flies horizontally at a very low altitude then climbs at a large angle. In all three cases the gunner is assumed to be loacted on the extension of the runway centerline. To compare situations in which the gunner is to the side of the runway centerline, the second combination of take-off angle and acceleration rate has been chosen.
