The theoretical calculations of motion resistance of vehicles are not available for solution of a wide range of practical problems: Designing new types of vehicles, comparisons to evaluate trafficability of vehicles, traction calculations, determination of the possibility of moving in unfavorable soil conditions, etc. The main advantage of such calculations is the possibility of determining the motion resistance of vehicles without conducting full scale traction tests. This could be done on the basis of calculation of several parameters of the soil and the traction device. (Author)
